# About CARTER

> The story behind the voice AI that escaped the lab

## Origin Story

CARTER is **the unhinged meme mode of Cartesia**.

We took Cartesia's Sonic model — designed for professional, conversational AI — and asked: "What if we removed every single guardrail?"

The answer? Voice AI that purrs, screams, and philosophizes. Sometimes in that order. Sometimes simultaneously. Always with maximum personality and optional coherence.

CARTER isn't what you're supposed to do with Cartesia. It's what you *can* do.
